Region 12 Boosts Fish Production in 2003

For the year 2003, production of the fisheries in region 12 grew by 20.72% or a total of 241,838 metric tons in a report released by the Bureau of Agricultural Statistics (BAS). By subsectors, municipal and aquaculture sector went up by 7.20% and 18.23% respectively while the commercial sector posted a 24.56% which attained the highest percentage increase.>>More

BFAR - FRMP 12 conducted a five day training on Mudcrab Culture in Mangrove Areas on February 16 – 20, 2004 at the Municipal Training Center of Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte.

The training aimed to provide the beneficiaries the learning insights and skills on the importance and proper utilization of the mangrove areas as source of alternative livelihood. It also provided organization the needed entrepreneurial skills to sustain the operation and management of the project.>>More

FRMP in its drive to uplift the economic status of the marginalized fishermen approved the project proposal of Baybay Small - Scale Fishermen Multi-Purpose Cooperative ( BASSFMPC ) on Seaweed Farming, amounting to half a million pesos. This is duly funded by JBIC and facilitated by DA - BFAR thru FRMP. The cooperative members together with the FRMP focal persons, provincial and municipal DA staff jointly met to tackle the contents of the Memorandum of Agreement ( MOA ) between BFAR 12, LGU – Kolambugan and the Cooperative.>>More
