BFAR Rehiyon Dose joins in the Celebration of the 21st Month of the Ocean (MOO) this Month of May.
By virtue of the Presidential Proclamation No. 57 issued in 1998, the Month of May was declared as the MOO and mandates the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and Department of Agriculture (DA) through the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DA-BFAR) in collaboration with other government agencies, all local governments, state colleges and universities, government-owned or controlled corporations whose operations are directly or indirectly relevant to the development and management of our ocean resources, non-governmental organizations, people’s organizations, and the private sector.
The MOO promotes ang highlights the country’s efforts towards conservation, protection and sustainable management of the country’s coastal and marine environment and biodiversity resources.
This year’s theme is “PAra sa Tao: Protected Areas for a Protected Future."
As the country is experiencing Covid19 Health Crisis with the imposition of community quarantine, the MOO will be celebrated through the use of social media and other digital information media to reach out to communities.
